The low-budget, Nazi-destroying actioner Dock Dynamite: 1944 (2023) is set during the dying days of World War II, Nazi scientists hatch a secret operation to turn the population of New York into flesh-eating undead, and the only man who can stop them is the cigar0chiompingl Nazo-chewing Dick Dynamite, a muscle-bound off-brand  Schwarzenegger and his punny one-liners and misfit cadre of foul-mouthed mercenaries. It's a wild and bloody affair, best described a The Dirty Dozen by way of Sky Sharks (2020). Intentionally made to me uber-pulpy, campy and rather silly it is nonetheless made with gusto and a bloody bravado that more than made-up for it's lack of production value and cheap digital effects.

The main baddie here is SS Colonel Maximillian Schtacker (Olly Bassi), chewing up scenery left and right, who alongside evil Nazi scientist Dr. Dinkelflokken (David R. Montgomery) has developed a deadly gas that turns people into zombies who will fight for the Nazis. Dick's ragtag wild bunch consists of Brit secret-agent Dash Dalton (Shaun Davidson), Brooklyn (Mark Burdett), the self-explanatory Napalm Jeff(Andy Moore), Tam the Bam (Leftie Wright) and the Nazi-scalper Lukas from Tucas, Motherfucker, Doc (Robert Williamson), and a wet-behind-the-ear war photographer Wakowski (Adam Harper) - most of whom are introduced with their own dedicated Grindhouse title cards.

There's tons of blood and gore here, explosions and bullets flying everywhere, a lot of it is digital, which was a bit of a bummer, but it's fun and stupid, and I had a blast with it. It's over-the-top. very non-PC, and blood-soaked from start to finish, we get decapitations, impalements, and even someone literally getting their face punched in, as well as quite a bit of practical gore mixed in the digital stuff, which I appreciated. I you enjoy other low-budget Nazi-killer flicks like Sky Sharks (2020) or Blitzkrieg: Escape from Stalag 69 (2008) you will probably have a blast with this one.  For all others, you're milage may vary, but I had a freakin' blast with this one, you can tell this was probably as much fun to make as it is to watch, everyone is having a Nazi-killing good times, and it bleeds right off the screen.

Audio/Video: Dick Dynamite: 1944 (2023) arrives on region-free Blu-ray from Epic Pictures in 1080p HD framed in 1.78:1 widescreen. The image looks solid for a low-budget digital shot production with less than stellar digitally composited effects. Colors are bold and vibrant, depth and clarity please, and the black levels are solid. Audio comes by way of lossy English Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo or 5.1 surround with optional English subtitles. The track is clean and well-balanced, there's plenty of surround activity during the action and carnage sequences.
