Warner Archive have once more unlocked the animation vault, offering fifty more shorts loving restored and remastered on Blu-ray for the first time, in a 2-disc set that has a little something for everybody. We get the very first Looney Tunes (Sinkin' in the Bathtub) and Merrie Melodie (Lady, Play Your Mandolin!) theatrical shorts, plus the black and white Chuck Jones directed noir-ish toon "Joe Glow, the Firefly", as well as uncut fan favorites featuring all-stars like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, Pepé Le Pew, Sylvester, Elmer, Foghorn Leghorn, and Elmer Fudd, as well as lesser-know and little seen characters Bosko, Conrad the Cat, Two Curious Puppies, Foxy the Fox, Emily the Chicken, The Honey-Mousers, and a trio of characters that were one-shots. These shorts, directed by animation legends like Friz Freeleng, Frank Tashlin, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, Tex Avery and others have been meticulously restored and have never looked better, all debuting here for the first-time on Blu-ray in uncut remastered versions, sixteen of these which have never before appeared on any home video format previously.

Watching these animated shorts is like popping open a can pure childhood nostalgia for me, makes me wanna sit in the front of the TV with a bowl of sugary cereal and just dive in and never come back. Now keep in mind, these are uncut animated shorts that were never really intended for kid-friendly entertainment, and as such they are at times adult oriented, and showcase some rather tasteless racial stereotypes, especially towards indigenous people, not to mention rampant cigarette smoking, classic slapstick cartoon violence, and there are also Nazis, so yeah, they are a product of their time. With that said, this is an exceptional set and a terrific third volume of the Collector's Vault series, and it comes highly recommended.
